Out of the Lab: SMS Gateway, Frankfurt Backup 24/7 & IoT Sandbox

Among the major accomplishments of 2023, we highlight three key achievements:

SMS Gateway: We internally launched a mobile app that provides a no-software-download chatting experience in HTML. This allows users to gather invites seamlessly without leaving any traces behind once completed.

Frankfort Backup: We reviewed and upgraded our backup system to implement a 24/7 parallel server setup. This enhancement enables us to quickly replace any onsite server defects, ensuring continuous operation and reliability.

IoT Experience: Our collaboration with Amazon has been instrumental in developing a sandbox environment to explore and respond to emerging electronic trends. This initiative positions us to adapt and innovate in the rapidly evolving IoT landscape.

These accomplishments reflect our commitment to enhancing our services and maintaining a competitive edge in the industry.

Giant-Care a Skin Coding Strategy

Originally, the Giant-Care application was developed with speed in mind but eventually became cumbersome with each iteration and add-on. To address this, the team decided to rebuild the application using our methodology aimed at keeping the code agile and free of unnecessary dependencies. As part of this overhaul, we reviewed the Giant-Care codebase and transitioned to a Pure HTML Framework, enabling us to innovate and deliver solutions faster and more efficiently than ever before. This strategic move has significantly improved the application's performance and adaptability.

Panic Button on Android using Bluetooth Panic Button

eGiant.io is dedicated to continuously developing applications that explore innovative ideas, such as the Android Panic Button, which utilizes Bluetooth wireless panic buttons. In 2022, we moved our code out of the lab, updating it to better serve a client residing in an area with significant interference. As a result, we successfully provided the client with a Bluetooth panic button that makes alert calls to the respondent, functioning seamlessly with Giant-Care just like any other device. This development underscores our commitment to enhancing safety and responsiveness for our users.

Amazon Farm Server Migration

After years of relying on a cloud service supplier, Russia's war on Ukraine became the catalyst for us to migrate all our farm servers to AWS for security reasons. While we had been using some AWS services for years, this full transition has proven to be highly beneficial in terms of quality, variety, and peace of mind. Shortly after moving away from "Digital," the service was attacked, breached, and taken down. Today, we are proud to be an AWS Partner, ensuring enhanced security and reliability for our operations.

Text-to-Speech Giant-Care Feature

In our labs, innovative ideas often evolve to improve client experiences or enhance the quality of notifications sent to Respondents of Alerts. One such advancement was the integration of text-to-speech technology, which had already been widely used in our electronics. To address the inconsistencies of telecom networks and the limited screen space on mobile devices, we brought this text-to-speech functionality out of the lab and embedded it in Giant-Care. Now, this feature delivers alerts across all devices, offering respondents a stable and efficient way to receive critical information, regardless of screen size or network limitations.

Tags were assigned based on priority, importance, and urgency, ensuring that communications were directed to the appropriate recipients in a timely manner. This review enabled eGiant.io to significantly enhance its ability to recognize patterns and act proactively, improving the overall quality of service for all notifications passing through the system. This has greatly improved the platform’s efficiency and responsiveness.

SMS Engine for Respondents

For years, the SMS supply was limited, but through key relationships, we gained the necessary exposure to this evolving technology. In our lab, we adopted the market methodology and standardized on the concepts of conversational, informational, and promotional messaging. This framework is now integrated into our SMS functionalities, enabling more efficient communication to inform respondents of Alerts. By incorporating these principles into our software, we’ve significantly improved our ability to meet CRTC regulations in a timely manner.

PI Hack to Full Call Display on Cell Phones

Since we benefited immensely from using VoIP to enable full call display on mobile phones, and with the CRTC delaying new regulations due to the slow pace of telecom companies, we developed the PI hack. This innovation allowed us to leverage our ability to push full call display to mobile phones, simplifying the task for alert call respondents by enabling quicker identification and response. By utilizing this feature, we significantly improved the efficiency and effectiveness of the alert response system. In 2024, we introduced Responder "oNe" as eGiant.io's prepared solution to meet the new regulations enforced by the telecom providers, ensuring continued compliance and superior service delivery.
